ARTIST STATEMENT
I paint because I have to. Making art is my way of life and how I stay sane. It is my career, my passion, my past, present and future. Without my art I am nothing. My work is my air and paint my blood.
I use a wide range of processes and techniques over extended periods of time that create intricate multilayered compositions. I allow my work independence, soul and the ability to evolve organically. With boundless colors, patterning and texture my work is dense, filled with history and often includes drawings, sculptural materials, and collage.
My work reflects the human experience in all realms of life. I paint what I know and what I feel primarily using abstracted or imaginary figures and landscape. My interests are emotional expression, conceptual thoughts, and diverse aesthetics. My subjects and stories are personal and yet they are intended for every person. We all experience the same thoughts and feelings along our journeys through all walks of life, each of us having the same core, meant to feel, think and reflect.
My work, stemming from my need for growth, self reflection and expression, ultimately, is a tool for the public. I want to inspire people; make them feel, not to just see my work as a reflection of me and an aesthetic product, but to look deeper inside themselves. My art is open and honest which, I achieve by not holding back, not rethinking, and not covering anything up. This purity encourages people to trust themselves and live their lives the way I make art.
